Bio/Background

So I'm Murray, Muz or Muzza, for short. I'm from Whangarei up in the north and I grew up surfing and fishing with my dad Russ around Whananaki. I'm a builder currently working at Tutakaka where every chance I get I'm either in or on the water, that's what I live for and I love it.

Specialty and Favourite Types of Fishing

Rock fishing is where it's at! Whether it's casting lures for kingfish or a big burley up for XL snapper.

Most Memorable Catch

My most memorable catch and release is my first 20+ pound snapper coming from the bricks in the rain huge swell, it was so sick!

Daiwa Essentials

A couple Daiwa essentials for me would be my Saltiga 18000 reel and Dragger 9'3 rod, this is a setup every landbased fisherman should have! And how nice are the little Certate SW 4000 reels? Silky smooth plenty of stopping power, and just a beautiful little reel.
